Bondi Reveals Investigation into President's Rivals and Jeffrey Epstein Ties
This past Friday, the Attorney General assigned interim US attorney Jay Clayton to head an investigation into political adversaries of the President and their connections with the late financier. This decision came just after Trump instructed her to begin the investigation.
In a statement, the Attorney General praised Jay Clayton as “one of the most capable and trusted prosecutors in the country”. The official stated, “The department will handle this matter promptly and thoroughly to provide clarity for citizens.”
This development seems to diverge from a July memo from federal authorities which indicated that the Epstein files lacked grounds for additional investigations. According to the document, authorities “found no proof justifying probes into uncharged individuals”
The President Demands Focus on Democrats in Epstein Case
This news coincides with increasing pressure from the president on lawmakers to oppose the full release of files concerning Epstein before an upcoming House vote in the coming days. Many Republicans are anticipated to support the release.
Newly public emails from Jeffrey Epstein have brought attention to the president’s past involvement with the sex trafficker, including information that he knew more about Epstein’s conduct than he has previously let on.
On Friday, the President declared he would direct the Department of Justice to examine connections between Epstein and Democratic figures, including prominent individuals such as Clinton, Summers, and Hoffman. Paradoxically, he also described the “Epstein hoax” as a “deception”.
